Project Description:

You will work in the Equities Derivatives Application Support team in Krakow. This team is part of the Technology Operations Center under the Technology Services organization. The team uses the Follow-the-Sun model to ensure continual support for the suite of trading, risk and PnL applications used by the Global Equities Derivatives business. They are not only first point of contact for the end users, but also responsible for providing L2 support of the application suite. The team is complemented by a team of analysts based in New York, Sydney, Hong Kong, Pune and London.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day support and monitoring of over fifteen major applications used by Front, Middle and Back office users in the Equity Derivatives business.
  • Follow the ITIL incident and problem management process when an issue arises in the production environment to restore service as quickly as possible and prevent reoccurrence of incidents.
  • Implement monitoring and automation initiatives using both vendor tools, such as App Dynamics and Splunk, and custom solutions using Perl, Python and Linux Shell scripts.
  • Coordinate with different internal teams and/or external parties to conduct and manage special events, including BCP tests, infrastructure change weekends, Data Center maintenance, special trading days or exchange-mandated market rehearsals.
  • Release and deploy new code versions into the production environment.
Skills
  • Good problem solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience with Linux environments
  • Understanding of relational databases such as Oracle and Sybase.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Shell, Perl or Python
  • Knowledge of ITIL incident and problem management
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple concurrent / conflicting priorities.
  • Financial industry experience is a plus.
  • Self-driven, highly motivated and have very high standards concerning quality of service delivered and attention to detail. You exemplify these values by leading as an example and expect the same behavior of other colleagues.
  • Comfortable with a high level of interaction with the business
  • Confident communicator that can explain technology to non-technical audiences.
  • Capable of understanding client / end user issues and translating this into problem statement for further investigations within IT
